Rod Sharif, 30, was arrested five days after the hit-and-run that killed a Vietnam War veteran as she crossed Wilshire Boulevard, leading to a murder charge.
The victim, a Santa Monica resident and Vietnam War veteran, was struck by a speeding white Toyota RAV4 while walking in a crosswalk and died immediately.
Following the incident, police initiated a multiday search for the driver, ultimately identifying Sharif through witness accounts and recovering key evidence from his home.
