Southern California is bracing for the arrival of a second storm that may bring significant rainfall and hazardous conditions. The National Weather Service expects this storm, which could deliver between 1 to 4 inches of rain, to cause flooding and debris flows, especially in urban areas and near recent burn scars. A flood watch will be in effect from Wednesday evening through Thursday, and evacuation warnings have been issued for areas near these burn scars as safety precautions ahead of the expected severe weather.
Officials plan to issue a flood watch beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday and lasting through Thursday afternoon warning of the possibility of flash flooding and debris flows.
There is a high chance of rainfall rates exceeding 0.75 inch which is favorable to create flooding in urban areas and cause significant debris flow on recent burn scars.
