Southern California red flag warning extended to Thursday night
Briefly

Southern California continues to face elevated fire risks as the National Weather Service extends a red flag warning due to anticipated gusty winds and extremely low humidity. Although the most intense Santa Ana winds have subsided, predicted wind conditions could reach levels that threaten to aggravate fire danger further. In some areas, upper gusts of 100 mph were previously recorded. While some rain is forecast for the weekend, it may also bring risks of mudflows.
Winds will strengthen Wednesday afternoon, peak Thursday morning and subside Thursday evening, continuation of extremely low humidity levels increases the fire risk.
Forecasters warned that the red flag warning could be extended into Friday for some of the region's most wind-prone areas.
Although the winds are trending weaker, Red Flag Warnings have been extended through Thursday 8PM due to expected wind boost and dry conditions.
A small amount of rain is expected in the region beginning late Friday through early Saturday, necessary but also poses risks for mudflows.
