The volatile standoff began around 2:20 a.m. when deputies were dispatched for a disturbance relating to the suspect's violation of a domestic restraining order.
While communicating with deputies, the suspect brandished an 8- to 10-inch object resembling dynamite and reportedly made threats about having a bomb.
Authorities later determined the object was a makeshift apparatus, leading to heightened police response and evacuation of nearby residents.
The suspect has been charged with felonies for resisting officers and possessing a destructive device, as well as several misdemeanors.
