Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have filed a lawsuit against the city of Los Angeles after they lost their home in recent wildfires. Joined by over 20 affected property owners, they claim that the city's water department's failures contributed to the extent of the damage, particularly that the Santa Ynez Reservoir had been offline for repairs. The wildfires, among the deadliest and most destructive in California's history, highlighted significant water supply issues, prompting scrutiny from state officials and calls for an investigation into the water utility's preparedness and response.
The couple, who rose to stardom on The Hills, filed the lawsuit Tuesday along with more than 20 other property owners affected by the Palisades Fire.
The complaint blames Los Angeles and its municipal water department for the water issues that hampered firefighting efforts and led to the damage to their properties.
Governor Gavin Newsom has called for an independent investigation into the LA water utility over the issues of hydrants running dry during the wildfires.
Without water from the reservoir, firefighters had to primarily rely on the water tanks, which were not designed to fight such a large fire.
