Briefly

Geoffrey Shyam Stirling, 45, was fatally shot by Newport Beach police during a traffic stop where he allegedly became aggressive and assaulted an officer. Following the incident, his sister, Lydia McLaughlin, expressed her family's devastation and requested privacy. Stirling, who had ties to the entertainment industry, was set to appear in court for a felony arson charge. As the case unfolds, the California Department of Justice has launched an investigation into the police shooting.
"We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from friends, family, and the community. We kindly ask for privacy as we mourn," McLaughlin said in a statement.
"Geoffrey was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. He was a television producer, script writer, actor and model. We miss him already," said Scott Stirling.
"Police said the Laguna Niguel man became uncooperative and assaulted the officer, took the officer's Taser from his duty belt and tried to use it on the officer multiple times."
"The California Department of Justice, which probes police shootings of unarmed civilians, is investigating the shooting."
