Possible record-breaking heat on tap for Southern California next week
Briefly

Southern California is set to experience summer-like weather with temperatures potentially reaching triple digits in some areas next week. Following a cooler-than-usual spring, temperatures will rebound, hitting the 70s along the coast and 80s inland. By midweek, some valleys could see temperatures exceed 100 degrees. A recent rain system has left the region below average for precipitation, with both the 10-day forecast and seasonal outlook indicating little to no rain ahead. This marks a concerning trend for areas facing drought conditions.
"These temperatures are about 12 to 18 degrees above normal," Schoenfeld said. "We do have temperature variations at different points, but this is a little bit atypical."
"Through the next 10 days or so there's no specific chance for rain," Schoenfeld said. "And then after that, we're really not in the rainy season anymore. So long story short, it's not looking good for any more chances of rain."
