Pesticide spray prompts closure of Crystal Lake Recreation Area in San Gabriel Mountains

Crystal Lake Recreation Area will temporarily close for tree protection against the Western pine beetle infestation through pesticide spraying from April 9-14.

Climate change has led to an increase in pine beetle infestations, thriving in warm conditions and causing significant tree destruction, with potential to kill up to 200 trees simultaneously.
