After the record-breaking rains this winter, the city of Long Beach has made significant progress in tackling the pothole problem, repairing 30% of them since May.
The community cleanup campaign initiated the effort to repair at least 63,000 potholes, with city officials noting they have repaired at least half in just three months.
City spokesperson Jennifer De Prez explained that potholes develop when water infiltrates road surfaces, leading to fractures and an increase in pothole occurrences.
With the city anticipating 63,000 repairs, including longstanding potholes, they strategically chose to address this issue when weather conditions are more favorable.
