LAFD Chief Jaime Moore is not seeking to determine who made edits to the Oct. 8 after-action report on the Palisades fire and is taking a forward-looking approach. He acknowledged the report was watered down to avoid reflecting poorly on top command staff. Moore identified interim Chief Ronnie Villanueva as ultimately responsible for releasing the report's contents. Moore pledged to prevent similar edits in the future, stressing that after-action reports should help the department learn and correct errors. He noted the edits softened language and reduced explicit criticism of department leadership and saw little benefit in probing authorship.
