May gray persists, but a heat wave could be headed for SoCal by Friday, forecasters say
Briefly

Southern California is experiencing typical May gray weather, but warmer temperatures are predicted for inland areas as the week progresses. While coastal regions and downtown Los Angeles will see mild temperatures in the 60s to 70s due to a persistent marine layer, this will change by mid-week. Peak temperatures could reach into the 90s and even over 100 degrees in lower desert areas, leading to potential heat advisories. Overall, residents are advised to be cautious as temperatures fluctuate.
"The cool, moist ocean air that is pretty prevalent in May and June will still be around, but will burn off in the middle of the day," said Ryan Pittell.
"Moving toward the end of the week, the marine layer will moderate and temperatures will warm up, bringing above-average temperatures Thursday and Friday."
"Temperatures in the Inland Empire will peak as much as 10 to 15 degrees above the average, with highs ranging from the 90s to 100 degrees."
"Residents should be aware of the potential for heat advisories or warnings in the inland and desert areas as temperatures climb."
