The wildfire, known as the Davis Fire, originated in the Davis Creek Regional Park, quickly spreading and resulting in the evacuation of approximately 20,000 residents.
By Sunday evening, fire managers reported the fire covered around 6,500 acres with no containment, while updated figures indicated it later affected 4,700 acres.
