Southern Californians face high airport wait times and freeway congestion during the holidays, with travel expected to surpass pre-pandemic records by 64,000 people.
Around 119.3 million people are projected to travel at least 50 miles from home, with roads seeing the bulk of this increase, approximately 107 million travelers.
Stacey Barber from AAA Travel emphasized the emotional aspect of holiday travel, stating, 'This is the time of year when lifelong memories are made with loved ones.'
Travel times are projected to be significantly longer, with specific routes experiencing waits up to 82% longer than typical travel times during peak holiday hours.
