In Southern California, volunteers patrol neighborhood streets in search of ICE
Briefly

In response to increasing concerns about mass deportations under President Trump's administration, community groups and immigrant advocates in South Los Angeles are mobilizing efforts to provide support and safety to vulnerable residents. They are conducting workshops on constitutional rights, forming patrols to monitor for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activities, and utilizing social media for updates. Unión del Barrio is leading this initiative by establishing the Community Self-Defense Coalition, training members in identifying and tracking agents to inform and safeguard local communities effectively.
Across the country, community groups and immigrant rights advocates began preparing for President Trump's mass deportations by organizing know-your-rights workshops, street demonstrations, and legal representation for people facing deportations.
At the forefront of this effort is Unión del Barrio, an independent political organization advocating for immigrant rights and social justice, which has helped organize the launch of the Community Self-Defense Coalition.
