"It was just getting into our environment, and what our guys do to prepare. They do an incredible job of setting the standard. So the challenge is: Is that something you're up for? This was Friedman's message to Tucker about joining the Dodgers' winning culture."
"I don't know, he's been a pretty good player over the last five, six years. Last year, he was basically the best player in baseball before he got hurt. I wouldn't put limitations on what he's capable of doing when he's healthy, especially as he enters his prime years."
Kyle Tucker joined the Los Angeles Dodgers after Dodgers president Andrew Friedman challenged him to adapt to LA's competitive environment and high preparation standards. Tucker is a proven performer with four consecutive All-Star selections and 20+ home runs in each of the last five seasons. In 2025, he hit 22 homers with 73 RBIs and an .841 OPS despite playing through a hand fracture. He brings World Series experience from winning with Houston in 2021. Hitting coach Aaron Bates expressed confidence in Tucker's potential, noting he was among baseball's best players before his injury. Tucker addresses the Dodgers' critical need for an outfielder following Michael Conforto's disappointing 2025 season, taking right field while Teoscar Hernandez moves to left field.
