The Otis College Report on the Creative Economy 2024 emphasizes California's dominance in this sector, supporting over 760,000 jobs, which constitutes about one-fifth of the US's creative roles. Los Angeles, in particular, saw around 15,000 jobs added in the film, television, and sound industries, despite recent contractions due to trade shifts. The fine arts segment is notably thriving, attributed to strong educational institutions, which have added 5,589 jobs in five years, with California leading in fine arts degrees awarded nationally.
"California continues to be the national leader with respect to the creative economy," said Taner Osman, indicating its vital role in the nation's creative job market.
The report highlights that the fine arts sector has been growing, with California conferring more fine arts degrees than any other state in the nation.
