Southern California is preparing for a significant rise in temperatures, with inland areas projected to reach the 90s and possibly hit 100 degrees this week, particularly in the San Fernando Valley. Meteorologists warn that the peak heat will occur on Wednesday and Thursday, with some regions potentially setting record highs. Coastal regions will also experience elevated temperatures, with Los Angeles International Airport forecast to tie a local record. Residents are advised to avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours due to the risk of heat-related illnesses.
"This will be a noticeable warm-up, especially Tuesday through Thursday," said Ryan Kittell. "Highs between 90 and 100 degrees will be common away from the coast."
"We're forecasting 100 degrees for the Woodland Hills and Canoga Park area - it's typically our hottest spot," Kittell said. "The hottest days are expected to be Wednesday and Thursday."
