Works complete at Tooting Station with improved facilities for passengers
Briefly

The Tooting station enhancements, completed in January 2023, feature new lifts providing step-free access to platforms, alongside security improvements like CCTV and wider footways. Thameslink invested £57,000 for a wide ticket gate catering to wheelchair users, families, and travelers with luggage. The project did not disrupt station operations, ensuring ongoing access for passengers. As part of the Access for All initiative, these upgrades aim to foster inclusivity in rail travel, with commitments from both Network Rail and Govia Thameslink Railway to further enhance accessibility across the network in the upcoming years.
I'm delighted that we've been able to open our latest Access for All scheme at Tooting which will provide step-free access to those in wheelchairs, or with pushchairs or heavy luggage to be able to reach their trains.
Everyone at GTR is committed to building a more accessible and inclusive railway, and we're delighted our passengers at Tooting now have a step-free route to the platforms.
