In February, Whalar Group launched The Lighthouse, a co-working and production space in Venice, Los Angeles, designed for creators. Although not a school or an office, it serves as a hub for collaboration and innovation, promoting connections among creators. With amenities like studios and event spaces, Whalar aims to support brand partnerships and creative projects. Co-founder Neil Waller emphasizes that the project's success will hinge on the tangible output generated by the creators who use the space rather than just membership numbers or events held.
"The ultimate success of this project will not be how many creators are part of it ... or how many events go on at it. It will be what work has come out of the fact that people were here," Waller told Digiday.
"Now, a week after when the space is open, I just see people talking to each other and agreeing to do things with each other just by the nature of being around each other," Waller said in late February.
