Uber has expanded its childcare support scheme for drivers in the UK, offering over 100,000 drivers access to free, flexible childcare via its partnership with Bubble. This follows a successful pilot in 2023 where drivers expressed that the aid allowed them to work more hours. Now, each driver will receive 20 hours of free childcare annually, which targets the challenges working parents, especially mothers, face in balancing childcare with their driving schedules. The initiative aims to boost earnings and improve overall work-life balance for its driver partners.
"Receiving childcare support during the pilot really showed me how much easier things can be when the burden is shared," said Tania Naseer, an Uber driver and single mother of three. "Having access to reliable care means I can drive without distraction, earn more, and still be present for my children. It's not just about work - it's about wellbeing, too."
The initiative is designed to support working parents, particularly mothers, who often face barriers to earning during peak hours such as evenings and weekends due to childcare responsibilities.
Uber’s partnership with Bubble aims to provide over 100,000 drivers with 20 hours of free childcare per year, allowing them to better balance work and family life.
Building on the positive response from the pilot, where 96% of drivers reported easier work conditions, Uber expands childcare access nationwide for UK drivers.
