The Met Office predicts a stretch of dry and sunny weather across most of the UK, with temperatures reaching up to 29°C, particularly in the southeast. This week could see the earliest 30°C temperature recorded in the UK, surpassing historical averages and possibly breaking national records for both daytime and overnight temperatures. Chief Meteorologist Jason Kelly highlights that while lower regions will enjoy warmth, the far north may experience cooler, more seasonal temperatures later in the week, leading to variability across the country.
Thursday looks set to be the warmest day of the week, with temperatures climbing notably above the seasonal average.
It's possible national and station records for daytime and overnight temperatures may be broken.
In Met Office temperature records, which go back to 1860, if we reach 30°C this week it will be the earliest point in the year.
The far north will always see cooler conditions, with these more seasonal temperatures likely spreading erratically south later in the week.
