Marks & Spencer has announced that its online services will remain disrupted until July following a significant cyber-attack. The attack, attributed to the group known as Scattered Spider, has prevented customers from placing orders for almost a month and is expected to impact profits by approximately £300 million. M&S CEO Stuart Machin stated that while the incident is challenging, the company is implementing a recovery plan highlighting their readiness due to prior simulations. The disruptions began after the attack on Easter weekend, affecting payment systems and online ordering.
We expect online disruption to continue throughout June and into July as we restart, then ramp up operations.
Over the last few weeks, we have been managing a highly sophisticated and targeted cyber-attack, which has led to a limited period of disruption.
This incident is a bump in the road, and we will come out of this in better shape, and continue our plan to reshape M&S.
We were able to respond quickly and take the right actions immediately.
