Aslef union members had planned a series of walkouts due to disputes over wages and working conditions. However, they have officially cancelled these actions after accepting a new offer from MTR, which now raises the average train driver salary to 75,000. This decision comes after drivers initially rejected a previous offer of a 4.5 percent wage increase. The new deal includes enhanced terms and conditions and a better pay structure, which collectively aim to avoid transport disruptions while benefiting the workforce.
Mike Bagshaw, managing director for MTR Elizabeth line, stated that the new pay offer, including a 1.5x rate for rest day working and further improvements to terms, was made to resolve the dispute.
