Tram disruption as engineering work gets under way
Briefly

Tram services in south London are temporarily halted between key stops due to essential maintenance on the Shirley Hills Road crossing. Transport for London (TfL) estimates that the work will last for two weeks and include additional maintenance activities such as track repairs and resurfacing. Despite the suspension, services will continue between other tram routes, including Wimbledon and Beckenham Junction. A replacement bus service has been implemented to support affected passengers, who are advised to plan their journeys carefully during this period.
TfL said the work was expected to last for two weeks, ending on 18 April - with services resuming the following day.
Navid Golshan, TfL's general manager for London Trams, said the work was 'vital' to ensure a safe and reliable service.
During this time, trams will not operate between Sandilands and New Addington tram stops, including at several key stations.
A replacement bus service is also operating between New Addington and East Croydon tram stops.
