JRL Property has submitted a plan to Sutton Council to demolish St Nicholas House and construct two towers—11 and 19 stories high—comprising 281 flats. The development promotes a variety of housing types, including affordable units, and emphasizes excellent access to public transport, given its high PTAL rating. However, local residents have expressed concerns about overdevelopment and the potential adverse impact on the community. Critics like Elizabeth Mapwashike and Victoria Harding argue that such projects disregard the existing infrastructure and the residents' sentiments, warning against changing Sutton's character.
I'm very unhappy with the council's plans to knock down the St Nicholas House which is a popular part of Sutton. The council ate single handedly changing the face of Sutton, how can this be done by a local council and not care about how residents feel about their area. Please do not knock down this centre, please halt with your numerous new builds which are ruining Sutton.
We do not need any more flats. You do not have the infrastructure to support all these people. We need to build back community, not just more buildings.
