On June 12, Emad Lechhed, 26, stole a bag outside a pub near Cannon Street. City of London Police officers, witnessing the theft, immediately gave chase. Lechhed dropped the bag during his escape but was caught within five minutes on London Bridge. The stolen bag and its contents were swiftly returned to the victim, who expressed gratitude for the rapid response. Following the incident, Lechhed received a four-month jail sentence and a two-year criminal behaviour order preventing him from entering the Square Mile, highlighting the police's commitment to public safety.
This is another fantastic result from our plain-clothed officers. Our warning to criminals; don't come into the City to steal bags. If you do, you risk being spotted by our plain-clothed officers, who will track you down, arrest you and bring you to justice.
The victim was full of praise for our officers when he got his bag back so quickly and we made an arrest.
