A 35-year-old man drank at a village pub and became enraged after being taunted about his marriage breakdown. He had recently moved out, grew increasingly paranoid, and mistakenly suspected his former partner of an affair. After storming out, he texted the landlord a warning, stole a bulldozer from his father’s farm, and drove back toward the pub. He deliberately rammed the front porch, causing significant damage and great fear to people inside. He also caused further harm while driving toward his estranged wife’s home. His father stopped the vehicle by cutting the diesel pipe and using a digger bucket to smash the dashboard. The court sentenced him to 40 months in prison and disqualified him from driving for three years and three months.
