Man lucky' to be uninjured after trying to fight fire alone in Bethnal Green
Briefly

A fire in a second-floor flat in Bethnal Green forced 10 residents to flee, although luckily, no injuries were reported. Firefighters arrived shortly after the alarm was raised at 9:45 AM on March 23. One man attempted to extinguish the fire himself, receiving stern advice from fire services to avoid such actions in the future. The fire, attributed to an electrical fault in a hairdryer, required multiple fire stations to control and was put out by 10:30 AM. Authorities emphasized the importance of leaving fires to professionals and evacuating immediately.
Due to smoke logging, residents in a neighbouring flat were not able to pass the communal areas. In this case we recommended shutting doors to help contain the smoke and prevent it spreading to other areas of the building.
The man who attempted to tackle the fire was lucky not to be seriously hurt. We would like to remind residents if there is a fire, get out, stay out and dial 999.
