Police officers responded to an address on Marine Street in Bermondsey on Sunday afternoon as part of an ongoing investigation. During the incident, two officers were bitten by a dog and one officer was struck with an axe. Both injured officers were hospitalized, while a third officer sustained a minor injury. Stephen Coombes, 43, was charged with attempted murder, being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog that caused injury, a racially aggravated Public Order Act offence, and harassment to put in fear of violence. A Cane Corso breed dog was seized and taken to police kennels. Coombes appeared at Croydon Magistrates' Court on Monday.
