London Square has acquired the Leegate Shopping Centre from Galliard Homes and plans to build 562 homes, combining 389 private and 173 affordable units. The development includes significant commercial space and aims to rejuvenate Lee town centre, which has been vacant for years. Galliard stepped back from the project due to market uncertainties and safety regulations. London Square, which has seen rapid growth recently, anticipates starting construction in late 2025 and aims to collaborate closely with local authorities.
We look forward to working with the London borough of Lewisham to get the re-development under way later this year. This acquisition will herald a new chapter for Lee town centre.
Galliard Homes remain committed to the delivery of high-quality, sustainable housing that meets the needs of local communities. The challenges we faced included a global pandemic... and national economic challenges.
