JJ Kavanagh & Sons pulls bus service to Dublin City and airport from parts of Kildare, Kilkenny and Laois
Briefly

The 717 Clonmel to Dublin bus route will undergo significant changes from April 7, 2025, including the removal of several key stops in Kildare, Kilkenny, and Laois. This decision, made by the Kilkenny-based JJ Kavanagh & Sons, aims to enhance the travel experience by speeding up journeys. Despite the inconvenience for some passengers, particularly those from less-served areas, the company insists that low passenger numbers made certain stops unsustainable. A new stop at MacDonagh Station will be introduced, and alternative options such as the TFI Local Link R897 route are suggested for affected passengers.
From April 7, 2025, key stops on the 717 Clonmel to Dublin route will be removed to enhance travel speed and efficiency, affecting some regular passengers.
A spokesperson stated, "While we realize these changes may be disruptive to some, these changes will deliver a faster, more consistent and altogether more extraordinary journey for the vast majority of our passengers."
