'I've been threatened over my Please Offer Me A Seat badge'
Briefly

Many Londoners living with disabilities find using TfL's "Please Offer Me A Seat" scheme challenging, with some facing hostility. Eliza Rain, a 28-year-old with a chronic pain condition, described an incident where another passenger threatened violence for requesting a seat. Despite the aim of the badge to signal the need for a seat, many badge users report that they are often met with refusal. TfL encourages all passengers to cooperate regardless of badge usage and has seen over 140,000 individuals utilize the scheme in attempts to support those with disabilities.
"I’ve used it for over four years, but eventually turned to my wheelchair for public transport due to how many passengers refused to give up their seat."
"People wouldn't give me a seat, and I couldn't stand... without potentially having a dangerous medical episode," Rain explained.
