Fire breaks out at Maida Vale school - the area's second blaze in two days
"The school was safely evacuated before our crews arrived, and we are working closely with partner agencies to support everyone affected by the incident."
"I wake up, I smell something wrong, I go to my sitting room, and I see smoke. I thought my partner smoked something. I look around, I don't see anything. I look outside, and I see a big fire."
"It's upsetting. It's sad that any flat, any of my neighbours have to lose any of their belongings because of a fault that's..."
A fire broke out on the roof of the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee School on April 30, prompting a response from eight fire engines and about 60 firefighters. Firefighters employed turntable ladders to extinguish the flames, which were under control by 2:41 PM. Fortunately, the school had been evacuated before the brigade's arrival, and a woman received treatment from ambulance services. Road closures were enforced as safety measures while investigations into the cause began. This incident follows another fire just a day before involving a substation near Aberdeen Place, leading to a major incident declaration.
