The £3.5 million refurbishment of the Millennium Bridge is delayed until next year after the City Bridge Foundation received fewer responses than expected to its contractor tender. The refurbishment will include resurfacing the deck, repainting the steelwork, and re-tensioning of suspension cables. In a bid to expedite the process, the foundation is splitting the work into two contracts. The aim is to minimize disruption, encouraging bidders to present solutions that would keep the bridge operational during the refurbishment.
The refurbishment of the Millennium Bridge, originally set to start this spring, has been postponed to next year due to fewer than expected contractor responses.
The City Bridge Foundation is retendering the project, now splitting it into two parts: redecking and painting, and cable re-tensioning.
