A significant fire at an industrial estate in Dagenham, east London, has prompted firefighters to advise local residents to keep windows and doors closed to prevent smoke inhalation. Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters are battling the blaze which has generated large clouds of black smoke noticeable across the London skyline. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and road closures are in effect in the area as authorities respond to the situation, which attracted over 50 emergency calls.
This is a very visible fire and it is producing a lot of smoke. We advise people in the area to keep their windows and doors closed.
The Brigade's Control Officers received more than 50 calls about the fire and crews from Dagenham, Barking, Wennington, Hornchurch, Romford and surrounding fire stations rushed to the scene.
