A major fire broke out at a Wendy's restaurant in Sutton, damaging ducting, the first floor, and the roof. Firefighters from several surrounding stations, totaling 60 in number, managed to control the blaze after approximately six hours, concluding their efforts at 8:45 PM. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and the London Ambulance Service was present as a precaution. The police have since declared the affected flats a crime scene as investigations into the cause of the fire are set to begin.
60 firefighters from Sutton, Wallington, Mitcham, Wimbledon, New Malden and surrounding fire stations brought the fire under control by 8.45pm, with no injuries reported.
A large section of the High Street in front of Wendy's has been cordoned off to ensure the safety of the public while emergency services responded.
