Emerging artists are facing a challenging world, necessitating emotional and practical self-protection. Cole Flynn Quirke's exhibition, Quality of Armour, invites 12 photographers to express interpretations of this theme. The exhibition aims to represent personal forms of armour, such as objects or people, that help combat existential fears. Quirke, an RCA graduate and photographer, curates works from artists with whom he shares a connection, showcasing diverse expressions of the theme. These interpretations range from severe to emotive, highlighting individual perspectives on protection and identity.
"My intention for this show was to curate work that represents the armour we use to protect ourselves on a more personal and profound level, possibly an object, a person, or place that, even for a brief moment, keeps our existential demons at bay."
"In recent years, I have become friends with a lot of artists who I feel share the same ethos and thought it would be exciting to do a small exhibition of works in progress."
