Russell Watson looks back: My success felt like a wave that kept rolling. Until it didn't'
Briefly

Russell Watson, born in 1966 in Salford, is the UK's top classical crossover artist. Starting in working men's clubs, his debut album 'The Voice' topped charts for a remarkable 52 weeks. With seven Top 10 albums and over 7 million sales, Watson has performed for notable figures, including royalty and the Pope. Celebrating 25 years of 'The Voice', Watson recalls his beginnings, from his childhood bedroom adorned with posters to the hard work that led to his first guitar purchase, a cherished possession he regrettably sold years later.

My mum got me my first ever gig. She went into a local club and said: My son and his friends play guitars.
