Man found dead after Reggae on the River festival in Northern Calif.

Robert Samuel James, a 66-year-old man from Los Angeles, drowned in the South Fork Eel River near Reggae on the River music festival. His body was discovered on August 2, 2023, by a snorkeler. Preliminary investigations show no indication of alcohol or drug involvement in his death. James and a friend went to the area to vend at the festival but unclear whether they entered the event. His body was found 1.4 miles from the festival site, and he was not reported missing in Mendocino County.

James' body was discovered by a snorkeler searching for invasive fish species in a remote area of the South Fork Eel River.
Captain Quincy Cromer stated that preliminary investigations do not indicate the involvement of alcohol or drugs in James' death.
James was reportedly not a missing person in Mendocino County, and it remains uncertain whether he entered the music festival.
