Lord Buffalo, a Texas psych-Americana band, has canceled its upcoming European tour after drummer Yamal Said, a lawful permanent U.S. resident, was detained by Customs and Border Protection at the Dallas airport. The band expressed deep sadness over the cancellation and is currently working with an immigration lawyer to secure Said's release. The band is hopeful for a tour reschedule in the future. This incident highlights ongoing struggles artists face with immigration-related issues, as seen with other recent cancellations in the music industry due to similar problems.
We are heartbroken to announce we have to cancel our upcoming European tour. Our drummer, who is a Mexican citizen and lawful permanent resident of the United States, was forcibly removed from our flight.
We are currently working with an immigration lawyer to find out more information and to attempt to secure his release. We are devastated to cancel this tour.
We are hopeful that this is a temporary setback and that it could be safe for us to reschedule this tour in the future.
According to a CBP spokesperson, Said was detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection due to allegedly having an active arrest warrant.
