Gorillaz have confirmed their new album will be released in 2025, as stated by Damon Albarn in an interview with Les Inrockuptibles. Albarn noted he is wrapping up the album alongside his new opera, The Magic Flute II: La Malédiction. Illustrator Jamie Hewlett supported the announcement, affirming the album's release this year. This marks Gorillaz's first full-length project since Cracker Island in February 2023. The anticipation for this album has been building since late 2023 after Albarn's focus shifted back to Gorillaz post his Blur reunion.
Damon Albarn mentioned, "One opera and one new Gorillaz album seems like enough for 2025! Unless someone accuses me of taking my foot off the gas!"
Gorillaz illustrator Jamie Hewlett confirmed the album's release stating, "Yes the new album is coming out this year."
