The Metropolitan Police announced the arrests for criminal damage and confirmed that both boys remain in custody. The alarming event was brought to police attention through the circulated video. Authorities from the Stratford Neighbourhood Policing Team labeled the act as serious and are urging anyone with further details to come forward.
"We have arrested two people following Saturday's incident and they remain in custody. This was a serious incident and I would encourage anyone who may have information to contact the police."
The 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and remained in custody, the Met Police said.
Police were alerted to Saturday's incident after the video was published online showing the seat being launched, and a group of boys then running up the escalator.
Westfield said the case was being handled by the police when contacted by the BBC.
