The 'green sanctuary' in the heart of an urban village which is building a barn
Briefly

OmVed Gardens, based in Highgate, is transforming a former nursery into the UK's first center for food, ecology, and creativity. The project includes a barn event space, kitchen with rooftop garden, seed library, and more. Since its inception in 2017, OmVed has held various courses on biodiversity, foraging, and food growing. The new center aims to enhance visitor experience, promote year-round accessibility, and deepen community ties through education and shared access to resources, showcasing a sustainable design by architect Piers Smerin.
The future of OmVed Gardens looks bright as they prepare for the grand opening of the UK's first centre for food, ecology and creativity, enhancing community engagement.
Founder Karen Leason mentioned that the new buildings reflect their commitment to community and knowledge-sharing in a space dedicated to food and ecology.
