The Tower of London is currently showcasing nearly 30,000 ceramic poppies to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe. This moving installation, named The Tower Remembers, symbolizes the profound loss experienced through warfare. Designed by Tom Piper, it aims to evoke reflection and remembrance for visitors, echoing a previous installation that drew immense attention. The exhibit is part of a broader British tradition of using poppies as symbols of remembrance for fallen soldiers during both World Wars and beyond, remaining on display until Armistice Day on November 11.
Piper previously said the scale of the 2014 installation could never be repeated, but he learned that smaller installations could still carry great emotional power.
Everywhere these poppies have been, they have brought people together, with their own stories of sacrifice, commemoration, and hope for the future.
