The rollout of new Docklands Light Railway (DLR) trains has been delayed by a year due to testing and signaling challenges. Transport for London (TfL) projects that the new 54 trains will now enter service by year-end as testing resumes. The project, which has already incurred costs of £942 million, is expected to increase further. The advanced trains are aimed at enhancing reliability, capacity, and passenger experience, replacing the decades-old fleet of 32 trains, thus allowing for more frequent service across the network.
The rollout of the new DLR trains has faced a delay due to testing and signalling issues, with the potential for service introduction by year-end.
More than 40 new DLR trains have been constructed, with aims toward improving service frequency, reliability, and customer experience once operational.
