London is bracing for a mini heatwave with temperatures projected to reach 26C, possibly exceeding popular holiday spots like Athens and Ibiza. The Met Office anticipates sunny skies returning midweek, with four days of warm weather expected over the weekend. This comes after a notably dry spring, with the least rainfall recorded in April since 1956. Regions like Leuchars and Bradford have seen extensive dry periods, and the UK has already surpassed 500 hours of sunshine this spring, more than last summer's totals.
The Met Office has forecast that the capital could be hotter than Athens, the Spanish party island of Ibiza, the Greek island of Kos on Friday if temperatures reach 25C.
According to the forecaster, until Friday night, Leuchars in Fife went 34 days without rain, while people in Bradford, West Yorkshire, did not see rain for 31 days.
