Michelin's California Guide has added 15 new restaurants, nearly half located in Los Angeles, recognized for their quality and service. This inclusion serves as a notable benchmark, with the 2025 guide releasing later this year. Among the inductees is Rasarumah, a Malaysian restaurant that aims to raise awareness of Malaysian cuisine. Chef-partner Johnny Lee expressed that this recognition is motivating for his team, suggesting it may lead to greater appreciation for their culinary contributions and traditions.
"This is great motivation for all the hard work that the team has been doing," said Johnny Lee, a chef-partner in Rasarumah. The new Malaysian restaurant in Historic Filipinotown serves vibrant house-made sambals, Wagyu-cheek rendang, stir-fried noodles and more, and is one of today's inductees into the California Michelin Guide.
"I hope it means that more people will take a closer look at Malaysian food, or maybe those who are considering getting into the cuisine might do it.” This reflects Lee's hope for increased interest in the culinary tradition.
