An 87-year-old man, John Mackey, tragically died following an attack in north London, reportedly motivated by robbery. He had just finished shopping at a Co-op store and was heading to a kebab shop when he was followed and assaulted on Goodchild Road. Emergency services responded promptly, but despite being taken to the hospital, Mackey succumbed to his injuries two days later. A 58-year-old suspect, Peter Augustine, has been arrested and charged with murder and robbery as the investigation unfolds.
During a preliminary hearing at the Old Bailey, it was revealed that John Mackey, an 87-year-old, was brutally attacked for the groceries he had just purchased.
