For the first time in its history, Windsor Castle held an open Iftar event in its State Apartments, welcoming over 350 people to break their fast during Ramadan. Organized by the Ramadan Tent Project, the event fostered a sense of community and religious diversity, supported by the King's ongoing commitment to interfaith dialogue. The gathering featured traditional elements of the Iftar meal, including dates and prayers. Attendees expressed their delight at the ceremony's historic significance, sharing personal experiences and memories of mixing their cultural identity with the royal venue's rich history.
"It's an amazing atmosphere - it just doesn't feel real," one attendee told the BBC.
"I studied history at university, so to actually open my fast in Windsor Castle is not something I ever thought I would do," another woman said.
"It's very kind of the Royal Family to open their home to us," one woman told the BBC.
"The King is an excellent ambassador for this cause and is committed to community cohesion," said Omar Salha, founder and chief executive.
