Ealing council has unveiled plans for a new neighbourhood called Old Oak, which will span the boroughs of Brent, Ealing, and Hammersmith and Fulham, creating 25,000 new homes over the next 30 years. Key infrastructure includes the new HS2 interchange at Old Oak Common station, expected to be the UK's largest train station. The project aims to enhance local amenities, green spaces, and connectivity. Notably, more than half of the new homes will be affordable, with specific provisions for council housing. The initiative emphasizes sustainability and inclusivity for all residents.
The area will be served by North Acton station and the yet to open Old Oak Common station - a massive HS2 interchange that is set to be the biggest train station ever built in the UK.
Right now, a lot of the land that Old Oak is set to be built on is industrial land, and it's thought that no existing residences will have to be knocked down to make it happen.
